God Gave Rock and Roll to You is a 1973 released song by British band Argent with lyrics taken from Psalm 57 of the King James Bible. In 1991 KISS rewrote the first verse and recorded the most popular version of the song for the movie Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. Someone once said that it was never a good sign when an aging band wrote a song with “rock and roll” in the title (he was perhaps thinking of Kiss) as it usually was a cue for empty nostalgia or cliché.
